What you will see:
She will take longer to drink – but don’t worry, that is good as she will soon adapt.
You will see a lot of saliva is produced – Saliva balances the pH in the abomasum for curding, improving digestion and boosted immunity.
You will notice that she puts on more weight – as more nutrition is absorbed, calves have higher daily gains.
She will be more settled after feeding – the controlled flow satisfies the suckling instinct to reduce hyperactive, cross suckling behaviour after feeding.
The controlled flow helps prevent raw milk entering the intestines so nutritional diarrhoea can be reduced.
