Kamar Heatmount Detectors are a valuable heat detection aid which can assist to identify cows ready for artificial breeding.

The detectors are a pressure sensitive device with a built-in timing mechanism designed to be activated by standing heat behaviour.

Glued onto the sacrum (tail head), pressure from the brisket of a mounting animal requires approximately 3 seconds to turn the detector from white to red.  This timing  mechanism helps distinguish between true standing heat and false mounting activity.

Application Procedure:

1. When necessary, comb the tail head area to remove dirt and loose hair.
2. Normal hair length is desirable to provide the foundation for adhesive penetration and staying power. Excessively long hair should be trimmed back to normal hair length.
3. Apply adhesive onto the prepared area of the tail head and work it deep into the hair with the spreader to assure deep penetration. This is very important to provide a strong foundation for maximum adhesion.
4. Apply a thin layer of adhesive on the back of the detector and spread it out evenly.
5. With the arrow pointing forward, place the detector on the cow and press down firmly on the outer cloth portion.
